Lauren Hemmerling joined the NRAS team in May of 2018. Florida native and Texas transplant since 2013, Lauren graduated from the University of South Florida with her B.A. in Relational Communications with a minor in Leadership Studies in 2011 and most recently graduated from Weatherford College with her A.A.S. as a Physical Therapist Assistant in May 2018. During PTA school Lauren had experience in orthopedic, acute, and neurological practice through her clinical rotations and practiced as a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Lauren originally found her love for physical therapy through her mother who is also a neuro/pediatric physical therapist assistant in Florida. Like mother like daughter...it was always in her blood! Lauren's fondness of physical therapy also grew from having to be a patient herself due to many knee surgeries as her time as a student athlete which benefits her clinical mindset in a heightened way, because she knows what it is like to be on the other side of rehabilitation and be able relate to patients concerns or worries, with a smile always on her face! Lauren has already hit the ground running at NRAS and plans to continue to broaden her clinical mindset practice and adopt new innovative ways for treatment sessions with heavy emphasis on robotics, virtual reality, neuromuscular re-education, manual therapy, aquatic therapy and creative therapeutic exercise. In the future, Lauren plans to become a clinical instructor for prospective PTA students to share her knowledge, provide mentorship, and help students reach their highest potential on their journey to becoming licensed PTA's. If it's not in the clinic, you can catch Lauren floating the river, brunching, going to the gym, Netflixing on Sundays, or spending time with family and friends back in Florida.
